#5 Song of Night, Book 3
Song of Night, book 3 - Our Living Planet Suffers from Global Warming and Viral Endemics
A ray of light shines upon the waste land in the dark
That may seem to come from a source afar
The darkness will be dark
And the ray of light may appear to be a thin and vulnerable path
But any dark night will pass and turn into the brightly shining morn
Stars flicker in the night
Those starlight will not be strong enough to warm the heart of mankind
But the moon shall soon rise, sending refreshing light to the Earth
That light will warm up the planet
And one day the sun of dawn shall illuminate terra firma
Humans shall experience many hardships during the night
Thick woodlands shall cover Siberia
In the jungles of the Amazon, Indonesia and Africa
Water shall one day vanish and rain stop falling
The trees burned by the scorching sun
Forests wiped out and replaced by desert
It will come as a sudden and unexpected change for the people
Those who lived in the woods will lose their source of food
Water
And may perish from the heat
It will be difficult to prepare for sudden desertification
Meanwhile
The ices of Siberia shall melt away, flourishing into woodlands
A canal shall be made north of the Yangtze in China
Turning regions that had been laid to waste
To rich farmlands
Southern Europe, too, shall see effects similar to desertification
With areas with regular rainfall that had been producing grape
Unable to harvest food and turning into wastelands
The Mediterranean coast
Of Portugal, Spain, Crete and Mediterranean islands, even Greece
Will all suffer from such trends
Bulgaria and Romania could see the same fate
Northern Europe will see warmer climate
Brightening up the local lifestyle
The ices of Greenland could melt away
Allowing some vegetation to grow
But woodlands in southern Canada and the United States
Due to the climate change
Suddenly turn into deserts or plains
In American
Its rich soils will no longer be suitable for growing crops
Causing great pain
The loss of topsoil due to the overuse of fertilizers may occur
Resulting in poor harvests
The Earth will follow the trend of global warming
And cause the world to be in utter chaos caused by climate shift
In Japan, Hokkaido will become warm
And the southern islands will be too hot to live in
But it will not become completely desertified
In the nation, the northeastern areas and Hokkaido
Could become suitable land for rice paddies
In the south, sweet potatoes and kidney beans—crops that better withstand aridness
Such crops will be harvested
But for the Japanese
These climate changes will not devastate their lifestyles
Allowing them to adapt
Tokyo, too, could be come drier than it is now
Even the snowcap atop Mount Fuji will melt away sooner than it does now
Melting all the way to the top in the summer
The changes that the planet will see is not only about temperature
Volcanoes will become active, causing eruptions and earthquakes across the land
When tremors occur frequently
Those living on Earth may feel the land will not cease to shake
And become anxious
In some areas, it may cause panics
It will even affect areas outside the Ring-of-Fire where earthquakes are commonplace
Volcanos will erupt in Italy
And Africa, too, will see similar tectonic activities
The planet is not just a stable ball of crust
Man shall realize
The Earth is alive beneath terra firma
With viscous magma swirling beneath
Occasionally shooting through volcanic craters
Pushing steam high up into the atmosphere
Throwing up chunks of metal
And spewing massive heat and lava
Devastating everything in its path, humans shall witness
What the planet was when it was first born
Is what mankind will sense from the sight
The sky will scorch bright red
Lava will gush out with a rumble
Steam and heat will shoot up into the sky with immense energy
Such shall occur on Mount Kilimanjaro and other places in Africa
It will allow
Mankind to feel that they are witnessing the planet’s birth
For television and movies
Will allow all people of the world to see such dynamic sight of the planet
Humans have lived on Earth
Under the impression that terra firma is stationary
Erecting civilizations atop it
However, now
Man will see how the lands tremble
And even those who live away from earthquakes and volcanos
Will cower in terror over the sights they witness through TV
That
Will send the mentality of modern humans to that of primitive men
The foundations of human life
Stands on the planet’s crust that appears firm and stable
But when that shakes
People will have no choice but to think, what is human life?
They are merely organisms living on a planet that spews out red lava
Mankind shall once again realize
Volcanic eruptions and tremors
Are simply the Earth claiming that it is alive
Atop that living planet
Are the live of humans
Is all you have to understand from it
You are not the only living beings
As the planet, too, is alive
And flourishes with an infinite number of creatures
All coexist
Allowing harmony between them and the Earth
But neglecting such thought, mankind, since the 19th century
Has established a scientific civilization upon the planet
Massive concrete buildings lining the lands
Various factories in place
And machines and items being created with magnificent productivity
They are all truly convenient
And, in some ways, do make human life richer
But in the universe, animals with high intelligence other than humans
Certainly exist
Various organisms shapes the universe
And together form glorious harmony
Humans
Are overconfident of their intelligence limited by three-dimensional space
Establishing civilizations atop it
Along with their understanding of life and space
However
When faced with the grotesque nature of the planet as a living being
Mankind will be forced to think it over
But that is not the end of the world
Nor the Earth
Nor human life as we know it
But how every being lives
And their harmony is what allows the planet and man to stay alive
Is what you must realize
And another trial you must face
Is how mankind will face chaos, unable to maintain their lifestyles and order
And become helpless in preventing numerous diseases
They may be illnesses that no one knew about
Or well-known sicknesses
That once again will spread
In areas where forests turned to desert
Water will vanish and people will not have enough to drink
Spreading diseases through people forced to drink unclean water
Why do illnesses spread amongst people?
That is because man
They, too, are living beings
That are affected by small changes in climate or irregularities
And easily taken over by sicknesses that cannot be cured
And die
Is what they must realize
Human life
May seem like it can be controlled by medicine
But that is only under conditions mankind has imagined
Man, through knowledge they dubbed science
Created the 20th century civilization
And, to some extent, live comfortably
But that is a rare occurrence
That continues on only when certain factors are in balance
As the climate or anything keeping the balance crumbles somewhere
The extent of human knowledge
And how people will be unable to deal with the changes will become apparent
And
How frail the human body is
Is another thing man must learn
Antibiotics and other medicines that have been developed
Will prevent people from being infected
You may think
But the human body is not something that can be controlled by man’s understanding of it
It is something that could flourish beautifully under the liveliness of the universe
And be able to express strong power onto the body on some days
But also die by being infected as part of the universe’s harmony
Man sees their lives
As something they can extend, alter
Or control, you may think
But that is untrue
Even something like temperature
At 40 or 45 degrees, is enough to make surviving hard
Just 5 or 10 degrees hotter
Can make it hard for the living being humans are trapped inside to survive
Yet you are under the illusion that you have the power to do anything
Thus, something prehistoric animals experienced
Volcanic explosions, earthquakes, the grotesque nature of the Earth—witnessing that
Mankind must realize its limits as living organisms
And how they live within the harmony of life
Once again
Humans will find it very arduous
But even if it is
How man is life thriving in the universe
And live together with organisms across space
Is something they will not understand
When the Earth trembles
Mankind will realize how small their existence is
And virus, bacteria and other things you thought you could control
Will once again haunt human life
The living body
Can be infected with other living beings, such as pathogens
How humans are the only ones exempt from that
And continue to live in comfort, is not how it should be
Why has such a grueling night been prepared
That, as I have said before,
Is for mankind to seek the light afar
And keep walking toward it
The thin trail of light
Is the hope for life for those walking beyond the darkness
As the thread of light keeps pulling you forward
The light will naturally get stronger
It will become more evident which path to take
Allowing you to make clear progress
Death will become a significant theme for those living the new era
What is death
With the planet riddled with corpses
Many shall lose their loved ones and close ones
Right then
People will question the difference between living and dead
The significance of life and death
For those living on terra firma
Death is an eternal farewell
Where the material body will decompose and enter the soil
But for those who have passed onto the other side
Death does not exist
Those who died on Earth will return to the heavens
And continue to live their own lives
That life will not be the same as that on Earth
As some memories will be lost while encountering different people
But how you must live seeking the way of light
That path itself
Is merely a continuation of you life style on this planet
Life is given to all people so that they shall head toward the light
We in the heavens are given life for the same reason
All life in this universe
Is a speck of light
It is not a sun
But a true source of light
Heading for light itself
Mankind will become that light
You are given life on Earth and in the heavens
So that you shall return to the light
Even the Sun will die as a star
And return to the light as a pure form of energy
Before the coming of dawn
Mankind may experience such an era of suffering
But that pain does not exist without a reason
It is so that all things living
Both humans and other creatures
Shall march towards the light
And eventually return to the light as a pure form of energy
